Print - Courtney Love on stage with lighters, Beautiful Monsters Tour, USA, 1999.
From the photographic archive of Melissa Auf der Maur.
Shot by Melissa, with her trusted 28mm point and shoot, Nikon camera, from the stage on the Beautiful Monsters tour in 1999. This ill fated tour, with co-headliner Marilyn Manson, was Hole's final USA tour.
Auf der Maur obsessively documented her time in the bands Hole and the Smashing Pumpkins from 1994-2001 as they toured around the world.
This photo is used as the wraparound cover of her upcoming memoir, Even The Good Girls Will Cry: A ‘90s Rock Memoir.
This is the first time a photo from the archive is available to the public.
*** This photo catches the spirit of when actual FLAMES from lighters, lit up the cosmos of an arena audience! ***
These largely before unseen photographs, will be subject of an extensive, photographic book and major museum exhibit at the AGO in September 2026.

*Please Note:
This is a small sized print - an OG photo lab style print - which is how Melissa would process, view and edit her photographs on the road. C-Prints are a traditional type of photographic print created using a chromogenic process, where light is used to expose a paper coated with silver halide and dye layers, which are then developed with chemicals.
